~ Chapter 4 | The Cellar ~

Thanos barely beat the early morning light back to the boat and his bed there that he rarely occupied anymore at this point. He’d spent the evening walking the beach with Taryn, then they had made love in the sand before falling asleep and waking only when the water from the tide reached their chins. He felt like he’d only just fallen asleep when his father woke him to head up and start pulling out the nets to start their day.

“Come on, up with you. We have to get started early today, the mistress of the House wants a double order of fresh catch for the young princess’s engagement party tonight.” His father called out over his shoulder, half way out of the room already. Thanos pulled himself up, dressed and headed up to start what promised to be a very long day.

By lunch he was dead on his feet, but he pushed through, taking a brief nap on the mast when they stopped long enough to have lunch before his father was yelling at him to get his lazy ass moving again. Thanos just huffed at him, as if, he worked harder than two of the grown men his father employed on this boat. He was a little slower today than normal, and his ass ached more and more with each passing hour. Taryn had literally tried to fuck him six feet under last night. But with the pain and the ache also came the memories and Thanos just smiled to himself, remembering the way Taryn held him close and bit his bottom lip to stop from crying out as he came, buried so deep inside him, Thanos swore he could taste it.

“Hey! What the hell are you doing, pull in the goddamn net!” Thanos muttered an apology and jerked the netting up onto the deck of the boat, thankfully full of several kinds of fish, which drew his father’s attention off of him. As the sun started to set they made their way back to the docks of House Orion and Thanos busied himself cleaning up. The faster he finished here, the faster he could search out his lover. He was so busy he didn’t even see Taryn’s mother speaking with his father on the dock until she was turning to walk away.

“What was that all about?” he asked his father who jerked around at his voice.

“That was our payout for the rest of the summer, with a little bonus provided we are gone by morning. Strange though, that she asked about you.” His father eyed him for a long moment, his gaze intense and almost accusing, before he shook his head and turned to head below deck.

“Me? What about me?” Thanos asked, but his heart was pounding furiously in his chest and his ears were ringing. They were supposed to be here another month, he couldn’t leave Taryn. He had hoped to secure an engagement or an arrangement at the very least.
